FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What's the difference between sober living and addiction treatment?
A sober living home (sometimes referred to as recovery housing or 3/4 house) is a structured home-like residence in which a group of people live at and collectively help each other through the early sobriety process as they simultaneously learn to navigate life’s ins and outs, without the use of any mind-altering substances. There are many different types of sober living homes, as well cost structures and so forth.
Does Progressive Living accept health insurance?

It is very rare for a sober living residence to accept any type of medical insurance. In fact we’ve never heard of such a case. At times, however, a resident in any of our recovery residences may find themselves needing a higher level of care. Fortunately, Pennsylvania is among the nation’s hubs for addiction treatment resources, many of which you will find accept a broad array of health insurance options. In some cases, the resident may leave us and enter residential drug rehab, while in other cases they may choose to remain here and attend an (IOP) outpatient treatment program of their choosing during daytime hours.

What is medical detox and when is it needed?

Certain drugs cause the body to become physically dependent after prolonged use, the most common of which being: alcohol, benzodiazepines (ie., Xanax, Valium, etc) and opioids (ie., heroin, oxycodone, oxycontin, morphine, etc.). In fact in some cases there may actually be very severe symptoms to where the medical detox process MUST be done under a physician’s care. All Progressive Living sober homes & addiction recovery residences (Levittown, PA, Bristol, PA, Morrisville, PA and Ewing, NJ) require that all residents are free of any medical detoxification needs. Most drug rehab centers here in Bucks County, or elsewhere throughout Pennsylvania, will either offer medical detox services themselves or partner with a local facility.

How long can I or my loved one stay in your sober living homes?
The purpose of sober living/recovery housing is to slowly and steadily build new and positive habits, which we all know takes time, especially when it comes to building new sober foundations. As such, we really do not place any maximum time limits on how long one can stay. What we know for a fact is that the longer one stays in a structured sober living environment, the more likely they are to succeed in their recovery. In general however, we always recommend at least a 90-day to 6-month commitment.
What if someone relapses while in your sober living?

If someone at any of our recovery residences should happen to relapse, we will generally require that they leave and possibly allow them to return once he or she is able to test negative for drugs and alcohol. We take it on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes they have to move out entirely. Other times we may allow them to remain, however under the condition that they enroll in outpatient treatment or something of the sort.
